Dr. Dennis Kinnane has been
a student and practitioner of the healing arts for over 35 years. After
graduating from Purdue University in 1969 with a 5-year Bachelor's
Degree in Pharmacy, he passed the Indiana boards and was licensed as a
pharmacist. He practiced as a retail pharmacist in Indiana until 1974.
In 1974 Dr. Kinnane passed the California
board exam and moved to Los Angeles where he continued his pharmacy
career, gaining experience in both retail and hospital settings. In
1984, feeling drawn to alternative medicine, Dr. Kinnane returned to
school full time to study Oriental medicine at SAMRA University of
Oriental Medicine in Los Angeles.
Dr. Kinnane graduated in
1987 with a Master of Science degree in Acupuncture and Herbology and
then continued on to earn a Doctor's Degree in Oriental Medicine in 1988
from SAMRA University. Dr. Kinnane also passed the Acupuncture Board
exam that same year and became a Licensed Acupuncturist.
Oriental Medicine encompasses a variety of health care therapies and is in fact a way of looking at medicine that integrates all therapies in its understanding. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology are the most popular in the United States. Other aspects include diet, nutrition, lifestyle choices, martial arts/physical exercise, breath exercise, massage and environmental balance.
